As my life is ramping up stress-wise at my day job, my writing anxieties seem to be growing as well.
- Will I be able to do this plot justice?
- Are my characters interesting enough?
- I know I published before, but what if I can’t get an editor to accept this novel?
- Should I stick to shorts or try to write longer pieces?
- Am I editing all the voice out of my novella?
- What if no one likes my story?!
I swear I spend more time worrying about writing than I spend putting words on a page. This has got to stop.
When stress and anxiety get me down, I usually try to sit down for a few moments, focus on my breathing, let my mind quiet, and meditate. I was wondering, however, if recording a few phrases with a writerly bent might help calm some of my writing fears as well.
So I’m asking–
- What do you fear?
- What do you stress about at night?
- Are your fears keeping you from writing?
