A Playlist For Running From Your Problems

I love to make playlists for my books. It’s a way for me to revisit a story without going back and re-reading the whole novel. I like to find songs that remind me of scenes, of emotions that the characters are feeling, and of my thoughts during the writing process.

So here’s my playlist for WOLF AROUND THE CORNER. I have it on YouTube and Spotify. Enjoy!

  • Spotify – Wolf Around The Corner: A Playlist For Running From Your Problems

  1. Angélique Kidjo – Once In A Lifetime
This song was easy. As soon as I heard it, I knew it belonged in this playlist. It signifies both Tom and Frank at the beginning of the story, not living the lives that they necessarily want but it’s so upbeat and uplifting that the hope for something better is unmistakable.
  2. Panic At The Disco – High Hopes
This song is the personification of Tom. He knows he’s bound for a greater destiny and he’s out there trying to achieve it despite life knocking him back down. But he never loses hope and ultimately learns that where you pursue that dream and with whom matters as much as the dream.
  3. Walk The Moon – Shut Up And Dance
I love the energy in this song. And like the girl in the song, Tom will not be denied. Shut Up and Dance is definitely Tom’s seduction style. Frank doesn’t stand a chance in the face of Tom’s confidence and Broadway smile.
  4. Letters To Cleo – I Want You To Want Me
This song reminds me of Tom’s desperation to get Frank to star in his play. He will stop at nothing to get Frank to help, even endanger his heart. He’s putting his best foot forward and making his best impression.
  5. Steve Grand – All-American Boy
The sweetness of this song reminds me of Frank. He desperately wants to be everything to Tom, but he’s unsure of how to do that. Tom wants him in the play and in his bed, but both of those things are temporary.
  6. Matthew Mole – Run
This song is Frank’s seduction. Love springs from him with a happy leap, hopeful and full of promises to Tom. It’s also the words he tells himself when he’s with Tom. That if he can just get this one man to love him, he’ll never be alone again.
  7. Smash Mouth – Can’t Get Enough of You Baby
This is the electric pull between Tom and Frank, the hot encounters and the pushing aside of doubts.
  8. Vertical Horizon – Everything You Want
I have a history with this song as it came out during a particularly painful breakup of my own. Frank knows these feelings, too. He’s done everything Tom asked, been everything that Tom needed, and still Tom is returning to New York without checking to see if he’s carrying Frank’s heart with him.
  9. Maddie Poppe – Going Going Gone
This is the black moment for Frank. Whenever his problems have become too much to take, he runs. When Tom can’t give him the answer he wants, love him enough, or change his dreams, Frank instinctively runs.
  10. Three Doors Down – When I’m Gone
And this is Tom’s leaving song. He knows he has to return to New York to continue to pursue his acting on Broadway, but it’s becoming more and more painful to admit how leaving again, leaving Frank, will devastate him. His only hope is that he’ll still be loved once he’s gone.
  11. Jason Mraz – I’m Yours
This song is for the end of the book. Both men have found their heart’s desire, their futures with each other. And it mirrors the last line of the play they produced.

Those are my picks. Do you have any songs you think epitomize Frank and Tom’s story?

Frank’s family taught him that his wolf was dangerous, unwanted. Now his best friend’s brother wants him in bed and on stage. But giving into his wolf’s need for love could risk the quiet life Frank has created for himself—and his heart.

Settled in the small town of Waycroft Falls, Frank is content to be a lone wolf among the white picket fences and dollar book bins until he finds himself sniffing his best friend’s brother. Tom smells like hot apple pie and his Broadway smile has Frank lolling his tongue. But when the visiting actor learns Frank’s secret and plies him with hot kisses to get him to star in his play, Frank can’t help but wonder if Tom is only acting.

Tom ran away from family obligations to be a Broadway star. If he could make it there, he could make it anywhere…but he didn’t. Trudging home to Waycroft Falls to open his sister’s new performance space brings him face to face with a werewolf—a werewolf that would be perfect for Tom’s shoestring production of Beauty and the Beast. Staying in Tiny Town USA would be worth it if he can somehow convince the sexy wolf to expose his furry condition on stage and howl privately in Tom’s bed.

Wolf Around The Corner, a paranormal semi-finalist in Passionate Ink’s 2017 Sexy Scribbles Contest, is a full-length fairytale romance with a side of wolf shifter. If you like your romance with gorgeous men, humor, and small town magic, you’ll love Wolf Around the Corner! Buy your copy now and settle in to watch the drama unfold!
