Special Guest Brina Cary Wants To Be Your Valentine #Giveaway

I'm so pleased to have my friend Brina Cary guest posting on my blog today with her first published romance--just in time for Valentine's Day!  Make sure you check out The Doctor's Valentine available on Amazon and enter her giveaway.

Hi, everyone! I’m Brina Cary!
Don’t tell anyone, but I stole Aidee’s page for the day! I promise I’ll give it back soon. Swear… I stole it for something that I hope you’ll find fun. I stole it to tell you about my brand new story, releasing today, and for a giveaway!!

My short story, The Doctor’s Valentine, is published by Solstice Publishing. It’s in their Valentine Anthology called Take Back The Night, which features five authors with tales never before told. My story is more of a contemporary romance than an erotica, but you might find one or two of those in this anthology. The Doctor’s Valentine is a sweet story about what happens when someone decides to put one dream on hold for another. This is a story about what happens when those we love think they know what’s best for us and force us to follow our dreams.

When I was growing up I had a dream that I wanted to be a writer. I wrote little stories everywhere. Some were on napkins, and some were written in my Math textbooks (don’t tell the schoolboard!). By the time I was in high school I carried around a notebook to every one of my classes. It contained poems, stories, and even fanfiction (Gundam Wing was my favorite). I put my dream of becoming a writer on hold to join the military though. While I was in the Navy my dreams never stopped, they were just on hold. Life continues on though. Our dreams change and grow with every passing moment. Dreams are vastly important to our survival. They keep us going when we might otherwise give up or are distraught from a temporary failure. I tend to put themes within my story of what happens when life gets in your way and changes your path or forces you to put your dreams on hold. That’s also the premise behind my short story.

In The Doctor’s Valentine, Sean Gibson’s lifelong dream has been to become an Oncologist. He’s willing to give that up to marry the love of his life though. That same love of his life that’s determined she knows what’s best for him. When he arrives home with a sapphire ring he finds Nicky gone and his heart crushed. With nothing left to lose, he changes his life and accepts a coveted Oncology Residency. If he can’t have one dream, he might as well have the other. Fate is a fickle thing though…

Fate decides to intervene in the form a patient named Thomas. Sean’s life won’t ever be the same.

About the Author

Brina Cary is a world weary traveler who has been to such faraway places as Guam, Singapore, Hong Kong, Jebel Ali, Bahrain, etc. through a tour in the US Navy. While growing up surrounded by poverty Brina began to dream of the different avenues her life could take. She joined the Navy out of high school to find out what she wanted in life and have a bit of an adventure. Since then that adventure has taken her down the road to martial arts, private investigations, forensic anthropology, financial analysis, arson investigation, Egyptian curses, myths and legends, etc. After completing two Bachelor of Arts, Brina took time off from school to join the real world of work. Dreams of faraway places, stories of mayhem, and life lines to ‘what could have been’ assaulted her from all sides… However, her dreams of adventure were not to be quelled and upon receiving sage advice from a six year old child, “why be one person when you can be every person”, Brina finally began her journey into a writing career. The one career where she could be someone different and have a new adventure every day. The one career where she could fall in love again every day.

  2. Hey, Debby! That sounds like a lot of fun! What kind of research would you do? I would love to do physics research, but I have to stay away from Chemistry. That's what happens when you set a table on fire by accident in high school. Magnesium tape, alcohol, and Bunsen burners just don't go well together. :)

  4. Thank you, Alicia!! I'm hoping that everyone enjoys it. My hero saves lives with what he choose to do. He became important to me because of what that says about him. He is a great guy that is madly in love! I wish I had been able to develop my characters a bit more, but I think they're all fabulous! I just hope everyone else sees them that way too!! :)

  6. This sounds like a great story, Brina! I can't wait to read it! My dream is already coming true of being home with kids and writing, but I would want my hubby to be home too so that he could write and help with the kiddos instead of working all of the time. :)
